Corten is a type of self-patinating steel , whose name derives from the contraction of the words "corrosion" (corrosion) and "resistance" (resistance). This material is characterized by a particular alloy that contains copper, chromium and nickel, which gives it greater resistance to corrosion than common steel. Corten was developed in the 1930s by the English chemist John S. Townsend, but it was first used in the field of architecture in the 1960s. Thanks to its resistance to corrosion, corten has become a very popular material for making facades, roofing, decorative elements and outdoor sculptures

Corten steel can be used in the production of road barriers for several reasons. Firstly, corten steel has a higher resistance to atmospheric corrosion than traditional steel, making it an ideal choice for road barriers installed in environments with high exposure to weathering, such as coastal areas or areas prone to heavy pollution. Secondly, the rustic and characteristic appearance of corten steel can give the road barriers a distinctive and visually striking design, which blends well with the surrounding environment and can increase road safety through a better visibility.

We install all types of road barriers (guard rails) in corten steel.
The categories are the same as for the galvanized steel barriers

N2 for urban and extra-urban roads

H1 H1 barriers are often used on main, secondary and urban suburban roads

H2 often used on main extra-urban roads with type II traffic and exteaurban/urban slip roads with type III traffic.

Each road barrier / guard rail is installed according to the technical installation requirements provided by the manufacturers in compliance with the EN 3117-5 2017 standard and the relative certificate of correct installation is supplied.
